How can you prove that probiotics work?Updated a year ago

Many (possibly most) of the probiotics found in dog products in the UK do not have EU approval for this application and therefore have no supporting evidence. However, we use Bacillus subtilis C-3102 which has the correct approval and therefore supporting evidence.
